glennsacks.com | The Mysterious Decline of Men on College Campuses In the bad old days, women were discouraged from intellectual pursuits. Now the tables have turned, and men are discouraged from intellectual pursuits. We need a few good male "bluestockings".
8:00 am Cold today and frost in the mountains. Fire almost over. Now begins the sad cleanup. The authorties are still looking for the scum who started this thing.

6:00 am Smoke possible high clouds about. Yellow-gray 62 degrees damp south wind. 7:45 am Yellow haze and ashes in Victorville. Strong smell somewhat hard to breathe. Evacuating Hesperia south of Manzanita and east of I-15. 8:50 am Sun is a dull orange ball. Yellow haze all around. Radio reports fire held at Summit Ridge. 9:46 am Thicker haze, visibility about half a mile. Smoky smell penetrating the building. 11:00 am Office closed due to bad air quality.
Religion and Capitalism - www.ezboard.com: "One thing that always bugged me about Clinton was how he always spoke of taxes as 'asking' people to pay, pretending that it isn't coercion. Then there's the current fad among some branches of government of calling taxpayers 'customers', once again pretending there is no coercion. 'Customers' can choose not to buy goods or services without legal consequences. 'Taxpayers' don't have that option."

10-28-03 6:55 am I sit in front of the TV in a daze at the devastation. The Great Fire of 2003 has torn through my old home town, and the mountains, and we fear it may hit the high desert next. From Lake Arrowhead to Chula Vista there is no place left untouched. Satellite photos show more fires in Mexico the news isn't mentioning. When will it end? My mind is overloaded by the destruction. 1:30 pm Evacuations Big Bear, Forest Falls, Mountain Home Village. Radio reports people driving like maniacs from Big Bear to Lucerne Valley. The world has gone crazier than usual. 7:00 pm There is very little wind, and moisture in the air. I smelled smoke earlier, but not now.
Got the comments up and running with only a few problems. Horray!

Earworm of the day: "Judy in disguise".
Peter Pan syndrome, another Glenn Sacks article. I disagree with GS on one small point: The mens' strike against marriage isn't very "subconcious".
Wolfie dolfie, tail on her ass, Nobody knows what the Wolfie has. Wolfie dolfie, chasing all the birds, She'd sing this song if she knew the words. Wolfie came into my family in May 1998. She went to doggie heaven on October 12, 2003. Rest in peace, Wolfie girl.
It's been awhile since I've said anything here.
